George Floyd death protestors loot Nike showroom in Chicago

Following the death of the unarmed Blackman Mr Floyd when a Minneapolis police officer kneeled on his neck for more than eight minutes as he keeps saying “I can’t breath”.

Mr Floyd’s death sparked anger and protests in the US. The governors in several states are calling on national troops in an attempt to restore order.

The protestors leave a trace of damage along paths they march on. Protestors marching in downtown Chicago left damages such as broken window and graffiti on some shops along the road. The damage seems to target popular stores in the city.

In a video trending on social media, a mob is seen destroying Nike’s showroom in Chicago and looting the merchandise present. A day earlier thieves targeted businesses and vandals smashed windows and set fires throughout the downtown area, but with the city’s Loop locked down, only residents and essential workers allowed, the protests spread to other parts of the city. Still, the Loop was the scene of some demonstrations as area transit agencies cancelled service.

The protests have been going on for some days. The protest has begun following Mr Floyd’s sudden death.

Various cities in us have imposed a curfew and mobilising national guard troops to control the situation. About a thousand protestors have been arrested so far.
